Darfur – UN takes action

The United Nation’s Security Council voted on March 31st to refer 51 suspected war criminals sin Sudan’s Darfur region to the International Criminal Court – a historic first for the court. The UN SC has also taken minor steps to tighten arms embargo and imposed sanctions on those impeding the peace in Darfur.

However, without a much larger and more robust military intervention, thousands more are likely to suffer. The Yellow Line commends the UN for the actions it has taken, but encourages further action to prevent needless suffering and loss of life.
