Washington DC welcomes Baseball back to the Nation’s Capitol

The National League East leading Washington Nationals concluded their first homestand yesterday with a 7-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. I attended Sunday afternoon’s game (and will attend at least 20 more games this season as a partial season ticket holder). The fans were excited and into the game throughout.

The District has welcomed baseball back to the city after more than 30 years. Washington Post Columnist (among his many jobs) Tony Kornheiser wrote a good column about the support for the team following its first weekend of games.

As the Yellow Line stated earlier following a Wizards game this weekend, “Nothing reveals the depth of community like sports. There’s got to be a way we can tap into that connection more often.”
