Spinning Darfur

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan has said he is impressed with the improvement in the Darfur region of Sudan. Problem is, as the Coalition for Darfur reports, there hasn't been much improvement. Either Annan is trying to spin the situation or he's not paying attention. Neither speaks well of the oft-ineffective Secretary-General.

It is becoming more and more clear that the rest of the world is content to let the genocide continue. The U.S. shouldn't have to take care of this alone. We shouldn't even have to take the lead. But if we don't, who will? If we continue to just shake our heads but won't offer our hand, what then? President Bush talks often about the culture of life, about protecting those who cannot protect themselves. That culture doesn't only include Americans. It can't only include Americans.
