Reclaiming Free-Market Pan-Africanism

Africa is not much covered in the media or on blogs. And, other than our coverage of the Darfur genocide in Sudan, we too have written very little about the continent and its struggles. But that doesn’t mean we haven’t been paying attention—only that neither Joe nor I are well-versed in the issues concerning Africa and prefer not to write about topics on which we can offer few new ideas or opinions.

Shay, at the excellent blog Booker Rising, is a whole other story. She is well-versed in African issues and regularly offers insightful commentary.

Her most recent post on the continent is titled Reclaiming Free-Market Pan-Africanism and argues for a focus on free markets and democracy as a means to lifting Africa out of its poverty. The piece is well worth the read.
