Bush Softens Stance on Darfur

The Coalition for Darfur is reporting that the Bush administration has eased the pressure on Sudan over the genocide in Darfur. You need to read the whole story to understand why. But one factor that seems to be influencing the White House and State Department is that Sudan has become a key CIA informent on Al Qaeda.

Certainly we need strong intelligence for the war on terror. But are we willing to trade the lives of tens of thousands of black Africans in exhange for information from a nation we still consider a state sponsor of terrorism? We certainly don't know the whole story and shouldn't jump to conclusions. But, if true, this is very disturbing news.
