Happy Fourth of July

The writers of The Yellow Line will be spending today with our families, eating barbecue, watching fireworks and, yes, probably having a few beers. Gotta love the 4th of July. Of course, we gotta remember what it's all about too.

For that, I offer you this.

Have a wonderful and safe holiday.

Happy Independence Day 2005 to all of you through out the Great Land.

How are the barbecues going? Hope it’s chicken and pork and NOT beef! (different story)

I thought I’d leave a little seagull drippings here because apparently some folks woke up a little late about what’s been happening since the late hour “Friday News Dump” related to the whole affair of Rove/Wilson/Plame.

Here – I’ll use this as hint: I would like you folks to remember these pertinent words from August 2003:

: : "It's of keen interest to me to see whether
: : : or not we can get Karl Rove frogmarched
: : : out of the White House in handcuffs.
: : : And trust me, when I use that name I
: : : measure my words."
: : : : - Joe Wilson –

Well ol’ ‘Turd Blossom’ most likely won’t get frog-marched out the door since the whole thing apparently hinges on two words: covert and knowingly.

But this one sure does complete the White House trifecta over the past few days. Sinking polls, Rove’s remarks of the liberal/9-11 brouhaha, and now this. 1-2-3… Good thing this isn't baseball.

All I can do is sit here and stare at my plate of homemade Iowa potato salad and shake this old Navy-boy head of mine.

I haven’t been this dumbfounded since the days of ‘Nam when the Navy surreptitiously transferred funds from their Special Services Sports and Recreation account to purchase a dozen OV-10 Broncos from North American Rockwell so we could put VAL-4 together to give air cover for the brown water Riverine Patrol boys before the Congress voted approval of the appropriate funds. (oh – you all never heard of that one… eh?) Well at least that one was for good reasons.

Well anyway . . . Happy Fourth!

Admirably

Jonah D. Wail

ps: Hey Alan - Do you recall my earlier mention in a thread about the WH praying that the Fourth of July gets here quick? None too soon ... Eh?

Admiral, and a happy 4th to you. Let me take a moment away from my chicken and southern corn to say I've been watching the Rove story--very interesting stuff. I will surely comment on it as soon as I actually stop to think about it. Not that the need to stop and think has prevented me from posting before, but this story broke over the 4th and no one's reading blogs anyway, so I get a chance to ponder (and try to come up with something original to say about the matter).

Enjoy the potato salad.
